The Honda Ski Tour is sure to bring scores of top athletes to Ketchum. It also promises road closures, detours and other surprises for drivers in town.

Mountain Sports International has applied to the city of Ketchum for several street closures and detours before and during the event, which is slated for Jan. 11 through Jan. 14. The closures are due to tents, fencing and music that will be part of the entertainment portion of the snow sport competition.

The application, which has to be administratively approved by the city, lists the following requests:

- Monday, Jan. 8, to Monday, Jan. 15: close East Avenue from Fourth Street to Sun Valley Road.

-Thursday, Jan. 11, to Saturday, Jan. 13: close the city parking lot on East Avenue.

-Friday, Jan. 12, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.: close Main Street from Second to Fourth streets.

-Friday, Jan. 12, from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.: close Fourth Street from Leadville to East avenues.

-Saturday, Jan. 13, from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.: close Fourth Street from Leadville to East avenues.

-Friday, Jan. 12, to Saturday, Jan. 13: North of First Street, allow local traffic and buses only on Main Street. Close intersection at Sun Valley Road and East Avenue, allowing traffic to turn right on Third Street from East Avenue and left on East Avenue from Third Street. Close Main Street from Second to Third streets. Close Sun Valley Road for three blocks, from Washington to East. Have a soft closure (local traffic only) on Main Street between First and Second streets and between Fourth and Fifth streets. Close Leadville Avenue between Sun Valley Road and Fourth Street.

Mountain Sports International anticipates 2,500 to 3,500 people will attend or participate in the event.
