Kimberly High School grapplers took top honors at a wrestling tri-match in Burley Tuesday evening, defeating Wood River 51-33 and besting Burley 54-21.
Wood River also fell to Burley 54-21.
Wolverine wrestler Jordan Vert (8-0) continued his undefeated streak in the 160-pound weight class, winning an 11-6 decision against his Kimberly opponent and winning by forfeit against Burley.
Wood River wrestlers who achieved pins were Collin Hand (189 pounds) against Burley and Ricky Maxwell (140 pounds) and Alex Jones (152 pounds) against Kimberly.
"Burley and Kimberly are two tough teams that forced the action all night," said Wood River coach Tyson Young.
"In order to be successful, we need to battle in every position at every weight," he said. "We have a lot of work to do, but this will give us a good building tool heading into Christmas break. Fixing the little things is the key."
The Wolverines' next match is Thursday, Jan. 4, against Skyview in Nampa.
