A hallelujah happening

On Friday, Dec. 8, an extraordinary and once-in-a-lifetime event took place in Ketchum. Dan Salero, a fireworks "genius," presented a private fireworks show on the Idaho Park Foundation land parcel donated by the Reinheimer family at the ranch south of Ketchum.

The display was not only a generous gift for a birthday party, but rivaled anything of its kind ever witnessed by the party guests and the valley residents who sat watching or who drove by in awe. It was definitely the "blast off" for the 2006 holiday season. This event was magical and almost spiritual in its magnitude and artistry. It is also a testament of the free spirit, huge imagination, flexibility and open-mindedness of our little town that creates beauty and magic.

Bring it on! Heartfelt thanks go to those who made the event possible: Ketchum Fire Chief Mike Elle, Amy Federko, and the Idaho Park Foundation and to Dan Salero.

Gratitude for a truly astounding experience.
