?The Sea and The Seal? by Alan D. Pesky and Heidi Pesky Worcester.

The Community Library in Ketchum will host a discussion, reading and signing of "The Sea and The Seal," written by Ketchum (and New York) resident Alan Pesky and illustrated by his daughter, Heidi Pesky Worcester, on Thursday, Dec. 21, from 6 to 7 p.m.

The book was written originally as a tale to be shared with family and friends—"those who loved Lee," Pesky said, referring to his late son. "I asked Heidi to illustrate it. It's fascinating. It's a very sweet, lovely story about something that happened on Nantucket."

In fact, the Peskys go to Nantucket annually on the anniversary of Lee's death to take time to reflect on his life. The events depicted in the book happened to Alan and Wendy. The touching story of love and hope is relevant for all ages, though it appears as a children's book.

The Pesky grandchildren read the book on Christmas Eve, Pesky said. "I want them to know about Uncle Lee."

Of the 1,200 copies that were published there are only approximately 300 left, though it may have another printing since there is another grandchild due.

Last week the book was given as a gift to 300 attendees of a major dinner at the St. Regis in New York for the Brain Tumor Foundation, which Pesky helped found.

"My 11-year-old granddaughter will read it at the Community Library while the pictures are being shown, "Pesky said. "The beauty will be this 11-year-old girl who will read."

The proceeds from the book will go to the Lee Pesky Learning Center, which the Peskys founded to help people with learning disabilities. There are currently Pesky Centers in Boise, Hailey and Caldwell.
