Cooperation imperative

Many thanks to the Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau and McCann Daech Fenton Realtors for hosting and sponsoring this year's State of the Cities & County Breakfast last Thursday. Thanks also to all the elected officials who have put in endless hours of time over the last year.

From Carey to Sun Valley, each speaker conveyed concerns brought on by increased growth in Blaine County. Pressures from an increase in population will affect everything from our transportation systems and infrastructure to the natural and rural landscape and overall economy.

As the cities and the county work to make decisions around growth-related issues it is imperative they work together in a regional approach to these issues. Equally important is public involvement in the decision-making process. In 2007, Citizens for Smart Growth is looking forward to being involved with both of these components of dealing with growth in our region.
