Kathleen Peterson, age 83, died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Blaine Manor in Hailey.
She was born Nov. 20, 1923, in Gilmore, Idaho, one of 11 children of Daniel and Catherine Mary Rooney. After the mine closed, Kate moved to Leadore, Idaho, and then on to Ouray, Colo. In 1942, she moved to Hailey and worked at Broyles Drug Store. Kate met her husband, Pete Peterson, in Hailey and they were married in Elko, Nev., in 1951. After a short time in Northern Idaho, they settled in Bishop, Calif., where she lived until 2006. Kate suffered a long illness and had wanted to see her two sisters that still lived in Blaine Manor before she passed away.
Kate was an active member of the Catholic church and the VFW Auxiliary. She never had children, but she spent most of her life taking care of everybody else's kids. Kate was loved by everyone and will be remembered as a very generous person.
Survivors include her sisters, Cecelia Stone, Terry Howes and Susan Kobe, all of Hailey; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Those preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hailey. Interment will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at the Pioneer Cemetery in Bishop, Calif..
