Fire bond inconclusive

Regarding Hailey City Administator Jim Spanelli's quote in the Friday edition of the Idaho Mountain Express about Hailey citizens being satisfied with the current level of fire fighting service they are receiving—maybe they are, maybe they aren't.

I didn't notice an exit poll where the city solicited information from citizens about the rationale of their votes for Jim to come up with that conclusion.

Maybe something smaller, with expansion possibilities, would have been more palatable to voters. Maybe in a few years, with the planned 400 to 500 more Woodside residences to share the costs, it could work. Maybe the city should put some of the local option tax in savings, especially the food and liquor taxes that the locals are mostly paying for, especially in the off season.

I don't know. Listen to the people. They are full of ideas.
