One night workshop features fabric

Artwork by Deb Gelet

Even if you can't hold a paintbrush, draw a straight line or mold a piece of clay, there are still options for creative hopefuls.

Artist Deb Gelet of Hailey will be teaching a stamping and stenciling-on-fabric workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Ketchum. For two decades, Gelet has taught various textile and fiber techniques. Her commissioned works have been installed across the country and she has exhibited several times at the Sun Valley Center Arts & Crafts Festival.

"These are techniques participants can translate to projects at home such as placemats, napkins and also on paper," Gelet said. "When the class is finished they will have a set of silk gift bags to use for the holidays. This is an art shot for anybody."

To register for the class, call 726-9491, ext. 10. The cost is $20 for SVCA members, $25 for non-members.
