Changes made to several Blaine County precincts

Absentee voting is available for everyone in Blaine County

Voters should be aware of several changes recently made to polling places throughout Blaine County.

The changes come ahead of the upcoming general election vote on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Blaine County Chief Deputy Clerk Jo Lynn Drage spelled out on Monday the changes that have been made and the county's reasons for doing so.

The need for the first change is obvious, Drage said.

The change will affect voters in Precinct No. 5, which covers northeast Blaine County. Voters living in that precinct will now vote at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 201 Sun Valley Road in Sun Valley, Drage said. The new polling place replaces the previous location at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Sun Valley, which is in the midst of being reconstructed.

The second change affects voters in three of the four separate precincts located in Hailey, Drage said. Voters in Hailey precincts 1, 2 and 3 will now vote at the main gymnasium at the Hailey Community Campus at 1050 Fox Acres Road, she said. Voters in that precinct had previously voted at the Hailey Elementary School gymnasium.

Voters living in Hailey Precinct No. 4 will continue to vote at the main gymnasium at the Hailey Community Campus as they have in the past.

The Blaine County elections office chose to move all voting in Hailey to the Community Campus for voter convenience, Drage said.

"It's a larger facility, and it's more easily accessible," she said. "It's less disruptive for the elementary students."

Polling locations aren't changed all that often. When they are, it's typically because of voter convenience or another similar reason.

"It just depends on the circumstances. We try not to change them too terribly often," Drage said.
