Express appoints new arts, magazine editors

She is adventure, film and writing in a person. She is Sabina Dana Plasse, and she joined the Idaho Mountain Express Sept. 11 as arts editor.

Plasse joined the Express from Baltimore, Md., where she worked as a writer and editor for EMI Media.

"This is really my dream job," said Plasse. "It's a wonderful opportunity to live in the mountains and write about the arts, as well as escape the East Coast."

Plasse said she's been writing her whole life.

"I love to tell stories. That's why I write," she said.

She has written a number of screenplays and her most recent, six years in the making, is ripe for a buyer.

She grew up in Maryland and has lived up and down the East Coast. This is her first foray to the West.

"I wanted a change of scene. I love to snowboard and winter sports," she said. "When this opportunity came up, I felt like I had to do it."

Plasse has taken over managing the weekly Arts and Events section from Jennifer Tuohy, who left the role of arts editor after two years to assume editorial control of Express Publishing's magazine division.

This newly created magazine division will oversee the company's current magazine publications—including the award-winning Sun Valley Guide—and will also be responsible for developing several new projects aimed at meeting the needs of the growing Wood River Valley community.

"I'm thrilled to be taking on this new role," said Tuohy, who is originally from London, England. "I have really enjoyed working as arts editor, but magazine publishing is my background and my passion.

"To be able to work on a variety of high quality magazine publications, alongside continuing to contribute to such a great newspaper—all without having to move to a big city—is a fantastic opportunity."

Plasse and Tuohy can both be reached at the Idaho Mountain Express office in Ketchum, at 726-8060.
