The October 2006 issue of Architectural Digest magazine features the work of McLaughlin and Associates, a Ketchum-based architecture firm. The magazine profiles 20 houses from the world's top architects, including a Ketchum home designed by architect Jim McLaughlin and his firm.

"I was thrilled to be included with the other architects who were recognized in that issue. Many of them are great designers. It was a real compliment to be included in that issue," McLaughlin said.

The article focuses on progressive residential design. A preview summary on the Architectural Digest Web site said McLaughlin's design defies convention and makes a statement all its own.

"The home blends into the site very nicely, instead of being on the site," McLaughlin said.

The longtime architect integrated the home into its natural setting by tucking the structure into the land. Extensive excavation work harmoniously placed the structure into its natural setting and overcame height and setback restrictions. The architectural design further blended the home into its landscape through the use of native stone.
