Sun Valley Co. begins the sale next week of several popular ski passes at a discount rate.

Sales of lift passes for the upcoming 2006-2007 ski season commence Monday, Oct. 2, at Sun Valley's main ticket office in River Run Lodge. Discounts are offered on select passes if purchased before Oct. 15.

Adult season passes will be sold this year for $1,950 each. However, if purchased before Oct. 15, the passes will be sold at a $100 discount, for $1,850 each.

The resort's popular 20/20 ski pass—a package that permits 20 days of peak-season skiing and 20 days of combined early- and late-season skiing—will be sold for $875 each. The 20/20 passes will also be sold with a $100 discount through Oct. 15, reducing the cost to $775 each.

The Alpine/Nordic Season Pass—which allows full access to Sun Valley's alpine ski mountains and Nordic ski facilities—will sell this year for $2,050. It will also be discounted $100 through Oct. 15.

A new combined season Nordic pass will offer skiers access to Sun Valley Co. and the Blaine County Recreation District trails. The pass will cost $350. The pass is on sale for $320, if purchased before Oct. 15.

Priced at $135, the resort's Early-Late Season Pass permits unrestricted mountain access during Sun Valley's designated early and late seasons. It will be valid opening day to Dec. 17 and April 1 to close. The pass is only available for purchase from Oct. 2 to Nov. 19.

Other passes available for purchase include:

· Student season pass: $360.

· Dollar Mountain adult season pass: $225.

· Dollar Mountain child season pass: $135.

· Season discount pass: $150 (not available after Dec. 17).

· Weekend discount card: $40.

Other options include the 20/20 Unlimited Pass priced at $1,275. The pass permits ski-lift access at Sun Valley for any 20 days in the early and late seasons plus any 20 days during the peak season, which starts on Dec. 18 and runs through March 31.

The pass will not be subject to blackout dates during winter holidays, or restrictions that limit the number of days per week it can be used.

Sun Valley's Bald Mountain is scheduled to open for skiing on Nov. 23, Thanksgiving Day.
