Your Five Best

Bex Wilkinson picks her five favorite films from this year's Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival

BEX WILKINSON

1. "Expiration Date," a quirky independent film about a Native American man who overcomes a curse of death on his 25th birthday. It was so well done, well acted and an intriguing and beautifully comic script.

2. "Un Buda," about two brothers healing wounds of the past through their searches in present life. Diego Rafeacus, the Argentinean director, won the Frida Award for best director. He acted, wrote, directed and produced this amazing film.

3. "Ordinary Boy," a non-denominational short film about a boy who experiences Divine Light but finds nobody but his elderly stroke-ridden grandfather who will understand his encounter with Divine Light.

4. "Returning with Honor" by Sam Adams, about his experience as a missionary coming home from an LDS mission in the Philippines. He took off on an arduous bike ride to San Francisco to find his past love and understand why he was sick when all the doctors said he was healthy. It was poignant and heart-wrenching, and I think this young Mormon director will go far.

5. "The Big Question," which was a very-well-executed and well-polished film about the cast members on the "The Passion of the Christ," set in Italy. It was so well done and includes interviews with characters of many faiths. The beautiful white wolf that walked throughout the film led the viewer on a cinematic journey of intensity and love.

Bex Wilkinson lives with her husband, David, and two children in Gimlet, south of Ketchum. She is a screenwriter and the president of Frida Productions, LLC.
