The Community School soccer teams continued their winning ways with victories Wednesday evening over the Buhl Indians at Sagewillow Farms in Elkhorn.

The Cutthroat boys dominated their game with a 6-0 shutout, while the girls' team pulled out a squeaker with a 3-2 victory.

Both teams face a busy weekend schedule, with games today against the Declo Hornets and Saturday against Blaine County rival the Wood River High School Wolverines.

Tonight's games at set to start on 5:30 p.m. at Sagewillow Farms.

The Cutthroat-Wolverine melees will also be held at the same location. The girls' game starts at 2 p.m. and the boys' game at 4 p.m.

Cutthroat girls' coach Kelly Feldman said her team needs to focus on the Declo game first, but acknowledged that the game against the Wolverines is one her team has anticipated all season.

"It's kind of the elephant in the room for everybody," Feldman said. "We're just looking at it as a chance to improve our play and get ready for state."

Cutthroat boys' coach Richard Whitelaw said the Wolverine match isn't particularly important for overall standings, but is a big game nonetheless.

"That's the big local rivalry," he said. "It's more for bragging rights because we're not in the same conference.

Girls: Cutthroats 3, Indians 2

With the game tied at 2 each and 10 minutes left to play, Community School junior Hannah Hennessy zeroed in for the score. Catching a rebound off the Buhl goalie, she adroitly popped the ball into the net for the game-winning goal.

Besides being the game winner, the goal was a big one for Hennessy, who's struggled to put it in the net this year, said Feldman.

"It was a huge deal for us and a big score for Hannah," she said. "It was a big pressure goal."

The Indians played a tough game against the Cutthroats, coming back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie it a 2 all in the second half on goals by Buhl's Autumn Yturbe.

"They're kind of a scrappy team, and we didn't play our best," Feldman said.

First half Community School goals were scored by Jasmine Campbell and Jessie Curran.

The victory boosted the Cutthroat girls' record to 5-1-2 overall and 5-0 in league play.

Boys: Cutthroats 6, Indians 0

The Community School boys lifted their season record to 8-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 league in the 6-0 shutout of the Indians. Buhl has been unable to score this year against the Cutthroats; in a Sept. 12 match Community School shut them out at 10-0.

The Cutthroats dominated Wednesday's game also. Travis Stone and Alden Remington scored two goals each, while Conner Brown and Caleb Sonneland chipped in one apiece.

Whitelaw named Brown the "man of the net."

"He's always dangerous on the left," Whitelaw said. "He always hustles after the ball and he's a good little player."
