As lift ticket prices across the country continue to rise, Sun Valley Resort's one-day lift tickets for 2006-2007 remain lower than several well-known mountain resorts in Colorado.

Sun Valley Resort has announced that a full-day, adult lift ticket during peak season this winter will cost $74, $5 more than last year.

Sun Valley's rising prices continue to trail those of other Western resorts.

Aspen Skiing Co., which controls four lift-served mountains around Aspen, Colo., will charge $82 for a full-day, adult lift ticket for the 2006-2007 season. Aspen raised prices $4 from last year's rates.

Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek have not yet published full-day, adult lift ticket rates. Last year both resorts charged $81.

At Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, in Wyoming, a high-season full-day ticket this winter will cost $72.

To better accommodate skier's wallets, Sun Valley Co. Oct. 2 through Oct. 15 will offer discounts on several popular mountain passes.

Sales of lift passes for the upcoming 2006-2007 ski season will commence on Monday, Oct. 2, at Sun Valley's main ticket office in River Run Lodge.

Adult season passes will be sold this year for $1,950 each, a $75 increase from the 2005-2006 season-pass price. However, if purchased before Oct. 15, the passes will be sold at a $100 discount, for $1,850 each.

The resort's popular 20/20 ski pass—a package that permits 20 days of peak-season skiing and 20 days of combined early- and late-season skiing—will be sold for $875 each, a $25 increase over last year. The 20/20 passes will also be sold with a $100 discount through Oct. 15, reducing the cost to $775 each.

The Alpine/Nordic season pass—which allows full access to Sun Valley's alpine ski mountains and Nordic ski facilities—will sell this year for $2,050, $25 more than last year. It will also be discounted $100 through Oct. 15.

Other passes available for purchase starting Oct. 2 include:

· Student season pass: $360.

· Dollar Mountain adult season pass: $225.

· Dollar Mountain child season pass: $135.

· Season discount pass: $150 (not available after Dec. 17).

· Weekend discount card: $40.

Other options include the 20/20 Unlimited Pass priced at $1,275. The pass permits ski-lift access at Sun Valley for any 20 days in the early and late seasons plus any 20 days during the peak season, which starts on Dec. 18 and runs through March 31.

The pass will not be subject to blackout dates during winter holidays, or restrictions that limit the number of days per week it can be used.

Priced at $135, the Early-Late Season Pass permits unrestricted mountain access during Sun Valley's designated early and late seasons. It will be valid opening day to Dec. 17 and April 1 to close. The pass is only available for purchase Oct. 2 to Nov. 19.

Sun Valley's Bald Mountain is scheduled to open for skiing on Nov. 23, Thanksgiving Day. Early season is scheduled to last through Dec. 17, while the resort's late season is set to last from April 1 to the final day of skiing—typically in late April.
