Airport to close for three days

By PAT MURPHY
Express Staff Writer

Friedman Memorial Airport will be closed next week, Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 19 through 21, to put the finishing touches on work begun in April and May.

Airport Manager Rick Baird said the work would include completing installation of new runway lighting, remarking the runway and adding 2 inches of pavement on 600 feet of the south end.

This is Friedman's second closing this year. The field was closed for 17 days in April and May.

Another closing is probable in May next year for about three weeks to rebuild the runway, whose various layers of materials are more than 25 years old and are being eroded by moisture.
