Folk-a-billy hitches ride to Whiskeys

Dallas Alice plays at Whiskey Jacques, Saturday.

With September upon us it'd be easy to assume all entertainment has come to an end. Let's not jump so swiftly to conclusions. Tonight, the last concert of the Back Alley Parties at the Wicked Spud in Hailey occurs. Public Radio and the Kim Stocking Band will be playing on the outside stage. The beneficiary is Citizens for Smart Growth. The show begins at 6 p.m. and includes raffles, food, dancing and fun.

In Ketchum, the Trail Creek Pub hosts Rockin' Rod on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Later in the evening, Whiskey Jacques gets hot with the Boise based disco and funk band, $oul Purpo$e. Dig out the 'fros, minis and platforms.

From Louisville, Ky. comes the irreverent and spontaneous band Dallas Alice. The rootsy rock 'n' roll band plays Saturday, Sept. 9, at Whiskey's. Consisting of singer, songwriter, guitarist Sean Hopkins, guitarist Justin "The Colonel" Hughes, lead guitarist Nick Reifsteck, bassist Nate Thumas, and drummer Matt Nofsinger, the band's sound has been described as "country rock," "alt-country" and "folk-a-billy."
