Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is vacationing in Sun Valley.
Sun Valley Police Chief Cam Daggett said Rice is here solely to relax and will be making no public appearances. He said she is staying at a private home.
"We're assuming it's a friend's residence, but whether they're there or they just loaned her the house, I can't say," Daggett said.
Daggett said Rice is accompanied by a security detail, bolstered by officers from Sun Valley, the Blaine County Sheriff's Office and the Ketchum Police Department.
A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department declined to provide any information on the length or purpose of Rice's visit.
Rice made the brief plane hop to Idaho after speaking at the American Legion's 88th annual convention in Salt Lake City on Tuesday. President Bush and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld also spoke at the convention.
Numerous Wood River Valley residents reported Wednesday and Thursday that Rice was seen playing golf at the Valley Club, a semi-private country club and residential subdivision between Ketchum and Hailey.
