Special 4-H award goes to Kelsey Green

During the 2006 Blaine County Fair Buyer's Luncheon Aug. 12 at the county fairgrounds in Carey, 15-year-old Kelsey Green received the Will Neal Memorial Award given by the local 4-H program of the University of Idaho Blaine County Extension Service.

Carey School sophomore Green, daughter of Kyle and Tracy Green of Carey, demonstrates the 4-H creed each day by using her heart, hands, head and health to make her community a better place, according to county fair officials.

Active in sports at Carey High School, Kelsey is a member of the Beef Eaters 4-H Club and ENTHUSE, a teen leadership club. In her 4-H career, Kelsey has shown sheep, horses and cattle. Currently, she is the treasurer for ENTHUSE.

Her ambition is to help rebuild a horse 4-H club in Carey.

The Will Neal Memorial carries special significance.

Idaho National Guard 1st Lt. Will Neal, 29, of Picabo, died June 19, 1997, in a helicopter crash near Firth, Idaho. The grandson of Bud and Ruth Purdy and a Carey High School graduate, Neal was helping manage Ranchers Supply in Picabo at the time of his death.
