Katadyn Micro Bottle

For many backcountry trail runners, mountain bikers and hikers, staying properly hydrated while out on the trail is as simple as carrying a water bottle in their fanny pack, water bottle cage or daypack.

But what do you do when you've sipped that last drop of water and you're still miles from the trailhead? Simply filling up in a nearby lake or stream isn't safe due to the possibility of Giardia or other instream nasties.

For some, packing iodine purification tablets has been a ready answer, but the aftertaste can be less than desirable.

Now, enter the Katadyn Micro Bottle.

Only recently introduced, this water bottle sports an internal filtration system that meets Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards for the removal of Giardia and bacteria. With each replaceable cartridge filter, the Micro Bottle delivers up to 160 refills depending on water conditions.

Holding 21 fluid ounces of water when filled, the Micro Bottle may be a perfect solution if you take part in any of the aforementioned activities. Suggested retail is $29.95.
