Evans scored in each at-bat and Sean Perkes (2 hits, 4 runs) provided insurance with a solo HR in the sixth. Evans: Steve Hendrix 2 hits (double) and 2 runs.

Smith/Smoky Mtn. Pizza 23, Oak St./LDE Electric/Bud 14

#4-seeded Smith pulled off the first of its two upsets on a sunny and hot Saturday, but it didn't look good for Smith early. Bud's 8-run second gave the Oak St. gang an early 11-4 cushion. Smith answered right away with 11 runs in the home second and tacked on 5 more runs in the third for a 20-14 lead that stood up. Smith: Matt Douthit HR and 4 runs. Bud: T.J. Peterson 4 hits (3-run HR).

Anderson Asphalt 18, Hailey Hotel/KECH & KSKI 3 (5 innings)

The pavers opened with an 8-run first and led 13-0 by the second. Anderson: Sharon Stewart 2 hits and 4 runs, Hoss Schmidt 2 hits (double) and 3 runs, Kevin Garceau 2-run double. Hotel: Ryan Bronson and Kellen Chatteron 2 hits each.

Wicked Spud/Bradley Const. 18, Evans Plumbing 5

Top-seeded Spud put together a 6-run third for an 12-4 lead, ignited by a triple off the bat of Jeff Burrell (2 hits, 2 runs). Josh Jacobson and Jimmy Bradley added 2-run HRs in the frame, then Bradley (3 hits, 2 runs, 7 RBI) came through again with a 3-run HR in the fourth.

Smith/Smoky Mtn. Pizza 8, Anderson Asphalt 3

Smith pulled off its second upset victory in a week over the pavers. They did it with pitching and defense, limiting the hard-hitting Anderson attack to 7 hits featuring doubles by Sharon Stewart and Hoss Schmidt. Smith erased an early 1-0 deficit with a 2-run HR by Matt Douthit (3 hits) in the third. The winners added 3 runs in the fifth for a 5-1 lead on leadoff singles by Brian Thompson (2 hits) and Kaitlin Linderman (2 runs) followed by an RBI double by Brad Dredge (3 hits, 3 runs). Smith got 3 insurance runs in the seventh on hits by Thompson and Dredge and a pair of Anderson Asphalt errors.

Wicked Spud/Bradley Const. 12, Smith/Smoky Mtn. Pizza 11

Spud scored in 4 of its first 5 at-bats and led 12-3 after five frames. Never-say-die Smith exploded for a 7-run sixth to trail by only 12-10. It was a two-out rally featuring a 2-run HR by Matt Douthit (3 hits). Smith: Sharon House 2 hits (triple) and 2 runs, Brian Thompson 3 hits (HR) and 3 runs. Spud: Josh Jacobson HR, double and 3 runs.

LOSER BRACKET GAMES

Oak St./LDE Electric/Bud 22, Hailey Hotel 4 (3 innings)

Bud made short work of Hotel with 19 hits in just three at-bats. Oak St.: Sean Harrington 3 hits (2 HR) and 3 runs, Greg Edwards 3 hits (2 doubles) and 3 runs, Tina Murphy 2 hits (double) and 3 runs, T.J. Peterson HR, Bobbi Edwards and Anna Edwards (2 doubles) 2 hits apiece.

Anderson Asphalt 10, BARmuda Triangle 4

Anderson Asphalt broke open a close 6-4 game with a 4-run sixth as Nelson Drewien (2 hits) cracked a 3-run triple. Anderson: Kevin Garceau 2 hits (HR) and Sue Mulcahy 2 hits (double). BARmuda: Buggs McNamara 3 hits, Cindy Elisson 2 runs.

Oak St./LDE Electric/Bud 20, Evans Plumbing 4 (5 innings)

Posting its first of five wins Sunday, Bud blew open a 7-2 game with a 10-run fourth highlighted by a 3-run HR by T.J. Peterson (hit for the cycle) and 2-run HR off the bat of Sean Harrington (3 hits, 2 HR). Bud: Tina Murphy 3 hits and 4 runs, Benjy Walker double and triple.

Oak St./LDE Electric/Bud 13, Anderson Asphalt 12

Bud sent the defending champion Anderson squad to the sidelines early. But, trailing 13-8 after four, the pavers made it close with a 4-run seventh featuring a 3-run HR by Kevin Garceau (3 hits, double, HR). Bud: T.J. Peterson 3 hits (2 HR) and 3 runs, Greg Edwards 2 doubles and 3 runs. Anderson: Matt Conover 3 runs, Sharon Stewart 3 hits (double) and 3 runs.

Oak St./LDE Electric/Bud 16, Smith/Smoky Mtn. Pizza 14

Oak St. kept its streak going with its second nailbiting victory of the tournament's final day. Bud built an 11-2 cushion with a 10-run fourth then added 2 more runs in the fifth and 3 in the sixth. They needed all the runs, because Smith worked up another incredible late rally with a 9-run sixth and 3-run seventh and still threatened when the game finally ended. Bud: Sean Harrington HR and 3 runs.

FINAL REGULAR-SEASON RESULTS

Oak Street/LDE/Bud 15, Evans Plumbing 14

Trying for the upset, Evans started well taking a 7-1 lead in the third. Oak St. roared back with 6 runs in the fourth for a 9-7 lead sparked by a leadoff HR by T.J. Peterson (4 hits, 2 doubles, triple, 2 runs). RBI doubles in the big rally came from Sean Harrington (2 hits, triple) and Buddy Peterson (2 hits, 2 runs).

BARmuda Triangle 16, Hailey Hotel/KECH 12

BARmuda, going for its second win of the season, busted out with a 5-run first and 10-run second. Jim Carlson (3 hits, 4 RBI) ripped a 2-run double in the big inning. Hotel: Ryan Bronson 3 hits and 2 runs.

Anderson Asphalt 18, BARmuda Triangle 5

Pacing the Anderson attack was leadoff hitter Kenny Nelson (5 hits, 3 doubles, triple, HR and 5 runs) and Sue Mulcahy (3 hits, double, 2 runs). BARmuda: Tracy Peterson 3 hits (triple).

Wicked Spud/Bradley 16, Evans Plumbing 12

Spud smoked a bunch of hits in a 6-run first, but Evans fought from behind for an 8-8 tie. Spud shrugged off the threat with a 5-run fourth as Anthony Rooney (grand slam) belted his second HR of the game. Jimmy Bradley added a 2-run HR in the fifth. Spud: Mike Watson 2 hits and 3 runs.

Hailey Hotel/KSKI 8, Smith/Smoky Mtn. Pizza 7

Ryan Bronson drilled an RBI double as Hotel put together a 3-run sixth and inched ahead 7-5 in a real battle. Smith tied it 7-7 with a 2-run seventh, then Hotel's Dave Lipman (2 hits, 2 runs) opened with a single and scored on Kathy Baker's game-winning sacrifice fly in the home half. Hotel: Ken Szela 2 hits (triple, double) and 3 runs, Gretchen Wagner 3 hits. Smith: Brad Dredge 4 hits and 3 runs.

Anderson Asphalt 4, Evans Plumbing 0

The pavers limited Evans to 5 hits and Kenny Nelson scored twice for the winners. Anderson: Hoss Schmidt double.
