Tom Wernig run/walk is Saturday

Ketchum outing for a good cause

Take a Saturday morning holiday run/walk in memory of a good man, for a good cause.

The third annual Tom Wernig Fun Run/Walk is set for Saturday, July 1 starting and finishing at Guy Coles Ketchum Skate Park by the Ketchum Park & Ride.

Distances are 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and 5k (3.1 miles). The courses wind along bike paths and horse trails through the Northwood area up to Adams Gulch and back. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the runs starting at 8:30 a.m.

Entry fees of $20 per person go to Blaine County Search & Rescue. Pick up flyers in advance at The Elephant's Perch, Backwoods Mountain Sports or Formula Sports in Ketchum, or just pay on the day of the event.

For more details contact Deb Bacca at 720-3051.

The event remembers Tom Wernig, 40, of Hailey, who died New Year's Day 2004 while skiing on Baldy. Last year 49 runners took part with Jason Emmons, 42, posting the top 5k time in 18 minutes, one second.
