Members tee it up at Valley Club shootout

Golfers enjoy weekend "Old West" tournament


The weather was delightful for The Valley's Club's Member-Member golf tournament June 23-24.

Overall champions in the tournament horse race were Ed Karner and Rod LeMense ($125 each). Runners-up were Carmen Bradley and Jay Cassell ($75 each) followed by Chris Stephens and Robert Allen ($50).

Here are the top three results for the leading twosomes, along with their scores and shop winnings, in each of the seven tournament flights:

Butch Cassidy Flight: 1—Page Roos and Woody Woodward 11 ($200 each). 2—Carmen Bradley and Jay Cassell 2 ($130). 3—Jack Dies and Dick Shelton --1 ($90).

Wyatt Earp Flight: 1—Phil Hebert and Latham Williams 9 ($200 each). 2—John Martinson and Phil O'Reilly 3 ($130). 3—Bryan Evans and Neil Bradshaw 1 ($90).

Jesse James Flight: 1—Chris Stephens and Robert Allen 1 ($200 each). 2—Phil Fast and Bob Lieder -1 ($130). 3—David Sturdevant and Bob Kantor --3 ($90).

Billy the Kid Flight: 1—Rod LeMense and Ed Karner 3 ($200 each). 2 (tie)—Dave Almond and Dale Jones -1 ($110), Doug Rhymes and Brian McCoy -1 ($110).

Doc Holliday Flight: 1—Dick Elliott and Tullio Celano 17 ($200 each). 2—Jerry Mells and Bill Pierpoint 2 ($130). 3 (tie)—Dick Wetherell and Tom Flynn --4 ($45), Hal Anawalt and Bill Bauer --4 ($45).

Annie Oakley Flight: 1—Suzanne Williams and Kristin O'Reilly 22 ($200 each). 2—Jeanne Welch and Claire Bailey 17 ($130). 3—Happy Hawn and Jolie Dunn 16 ($90).

Belle Star Flight: 1—Mary Lou Sedin and Molly Fields 19 ($200 each). 2—Alice Lane and Wendy Reilly 17 ($130). 3—Gundl Haskell and Joanne Wetherell 16 ($90).
