Women?s mountain bike clinic set for July 8-9

A training clinic to help women improve their mountain biking skills is set for the weekend of July 8-9.

Registration is still open for the third annual Sugoi Dirt Series training clinic. Participants can register online at www.dirtseries.com. The local sponsor is Backwoods Mountain Sports in Ketchum. The folks their can answer questions or assist with registration if needed.

The cost is $215. Clinics include group technical discussions, trail rides, fitness and bicycle maintenance sessions and social time.

Techniques covered at the clinic include handling switchbacks, braking and descending, high speed cornering, climbing, lifts to get over obstacles, wheelie drops, bunny hops, picking and committing to lines, and negotiating planks and bridges.

Libby Holtz, the clothing buyer at Backwoods, said past participants have found the clinic invaluable in helping them improve their mountain biking skills.
