What's up at the HUB and Rec. District

Summer Activities

Blaine County Recreation District offers such a myriad of activities that it's easy to see how bereft visitors and residents would be without this incredible organization. It's responsible for the North Valley, Quigley, Sawtooth and Wood River Trails which includes the bike path system, the Harriman Trail, the Aquatic Center, Galena Lodge, various races, and children's sports and arts programs at the Community Campus as well as HUB, the youth activity center.

Highlights of the summer season

Wednesday, June 7, 21: Apples to Apples at the Hub Youth Center, 11 a.m. -- 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, June 8, 15, 22, 29: Outdoor Games at the Hub Youth Center, 11 a.m. -- 6:30 p.m.

Friday, June 9, 23: Halo II Game Night at the Hub Youth Center. High school age recommended. 4 - 6 p.m. Free.

Monday, June 12: Leader In Training at the Hub Youth Center, Youth 12-14 years old learn invaluable leadership skills in this four-week program. Runs Monday -- Friday, 10 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m. Space is limited to 10 participants. $40 a session.

Monday, June 12, 19: Pen Pal Club at the Hub Youth Center, 3-- 4 p.m.

Wednesday, June 14, 28: Movie and Pizza at the Hub Youth Center, 4 - 6 p.m. $3 for pizza.

Best of the Valley Hub Youth Center Fundraiser

Delicious foods from the valley's finest restaurants are served along with children's activities, bluegrass music by Public Radio, 50/50 raffle, wine and beer. General admission is $8/adults, $4 for 11 and under. Food tickets are $1 each. Reserved tables are available. 4 -- 8 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at the Forest Service Park, Ketchum.

Blaine County Aquatic Center

Located next to the Community Campus, the aquatic center provides a fun and safe environment for kids and adults.

The main pool is a 25-yard, six-lane, heated pool. Aquatic toys, lap training equipment, ladders, easy entry steps, and a handicapped lift are all available.

The wading pool is 15 feet by 25 feet, heated to approximately 85 degrees, and is one to three feet deep with easy entry steps.

Lifeguards are on duty during pool operating hours and are trained in water safety rescue. They're also certified in infant, child, and adult CPR; supplemental oxygen, and AED.

Open now through August 27.

Galena Lodge

During summer, Galena Lodge is a quiet, trails-based retreat with rustic character and charm. The lodge offers mountain biking, hiking, dining, a full-service outdoor and rental shop, guided tours and bike lessons, youth adventure camps, trail rides, and beautiful facilities for private parties and corporate retreats.
