Ketchum-based Trail Creek Brewing Co. makes tasty beer, according to the North American Brewers Association.

The association announced June 3 at its 12th Annual Mountain Brewers Beer Fest in Idaho Falls that the Ketchum-based Trail Creek Brewery had won two prestigious awards. It was a doubly pleasant win for Wood River Valley residents and brewery owners Darcy Vansteelant and Scott Featherstone.

The Wood River Valley partners have been in the business of beer only since Nov. 11, 2005. But their Twin Falls based brew master, Eric Buehner, has some beer brewing legs on him. He has been whipping up combinations of barley and hops for more than a decade in Utah, though these are his first awards.

The Brewery won a gold medal in the German Lager Beers category for its Trail Creek Amber. It also won silver in a Munich Style Lager category for its Trail Creek Dunkel.

"He's proud of it, and we're excited, too," Featherstone said while sitting outside the Trail Creek Pub on the south side of Ketchum. A dentist by trade, who'll soon be opening his practice in Ketchum, Featherstone's pub is hosting live music and lawn games this summer in front of the pub.

The brewery is located in Twin Falls.
