The Wood River Warriors Lacrosse team started the game strong but came up short in a 10-3 loss Tuesday to Meridian High School in Mountain Home.
The Warriors lead 3-2 after the first quarter.
Coach Doug Cooper said it was the team's best quarter this year. Unfortunately the Warriors were unable to maintain the momentum against the more experienced Meridian team and went scoreless for quarters two, three and four.
Warriors Steve Rosso, Jeff Conover and Noah Lindley scored goals. Rosso also had an assist. Joey Stevenson made 13 saves as goalie.
Cooper said the team played well but was overpowered by the more experienced Meridian team, which has been in existence nearly a dozen years as compared to three for the Warriors.
The game was the final regular season match. The Warriors won their final home game in a 9-3 rout of Vallivue High School in Bellevue on Saturday.
The Warriors, 4-8, still have a shot at making the state tournament. Games elsewhere this weekend will determine if Wood River can qualify for the number eight berth.
