Hawaii comes to slopes

Sun Valley Telemark Series Hawaiian Nationals, which includes the famously silly and inventive Tandem Telemark Challenge is Saturday, April 8, on Baldy's Warm Springs. Look for the Smith Limo Rail Jam, the Telemark Parade, the Warm Springs Creek tele-crossing and Luau Street Party, 4 p.m. with music by Mystic Roots.

Poetry of nature

ERC Nature Poetry in the Woods is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. April 8. Participants will be encouraged to create poetry or stories about places in nature. Bring a journal. Families are welcome. For details, call 726-4333.

Swaner benefit held

Join the Cowboy Brunch to benefit Ivan Swaner, Sawtooth Club in Ketchum, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, April 9. The Fabulous Spas entertain. Raffle tickets may be bought at the Chamber or Atkinsons' in Ketchum before hand. Swaner, a local historian, is recuperating from heart surgery following a fire that destroyed his home. Funds raised will help buy Swaner a mobile home.

Walk this way

Held at the Community Campus in Hailey, and beginning with coffee at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aril 10, a talk on "Creating a Pedestrian Friendly Main Street--When A Highway Runs Through It," will feature Dan Burden, of Walkable Communities. He addresses intersection design, traffic calming practices and other strategies for creating a safe and friendly pedestrian main Street.
