Hailey Wastewater Superintendent Roger Parker has been recognized as the administrator of the year by the Idaho Rural Water Association. The award was announced March 14at the association's annual meeting in Boise.
The award is given to the person in a management position who has done the most to make his or her department stand out in the entire state. As part of the award, Parker was given a glass plaque and a jacket embroidered with his name.
Parker, an employee of the city of Hailey for more than five years, was recognized for his efforts in modernizing Hailey's wastewater department.
"It definitely feels good to be recognized," he said.
Parker credits much of the thanks for his award to his five-member crew at the department, several of whom nominated him for the award.
"I wouldn't have won this without the excellent crew I have working for me," Parker said.
In addition to his work in the wastewater department, Parker also does mapping and global-positioning-system work for Hailey and is the city's primary information technology person.
Parker isn't complaining about his diversified job duties, however. One of his current tasks is mapping Hailey's utilities.
"I love my job. I wouldn't trade it for anything."
