Alpine racers invited to Spring Series

At Mammoth April 5-10


Seven Wood River Valley alpine ski racers and two coaches from the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation have been invited to the Western Region FIS (International Ski Federation) Elite Spring Series.

The event featuring 35 men, 28 women and six coaches from the Intermountain Division of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5 through Monday, April 10 at Mammoth Mountain, Ca.

Men chosen include Carl Rixon Jr., Robin Sarchett, Biche Rudigoz and Tristan Brown. The local women are Lauren Eder, Lauren Parsons and Hailey Duke, a Park City (Utah) skier who grew up in the Wood River Valley.

The coaches include Tyler Palmer and Ruben Macaya.

Super giant slalom, giant slalom and slalom racing will be held.

Closer to home, Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah will stage the 61st annual Snow Cup giant slaloms Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1, followed at the same ski area by the Last Chance slaloms on Sunday and Monday, April 2-3.
