Johnny G's Subshack stays unbeaten

In Outlaw League tourney

There was no stopping Jeff Monroe Tuesday night in the semi-final game of the Sutton & Sons men's basketball league tournament played at The Community Campus gym.

Monroe, a 2004 Division III All-American at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, scored a league season-high 35 points leading top-seeded Johnny G's Subshack (14-1) into the championship game of the 10-team tournament.

Johnny G's Subshack won its 12th consecutive game 76-61 over #3-seeded Jivaro Headhunters in a rematch of last year's league championship game. Darrell Tullis topped Jivaro with 18 points Tuesday.

The outcome sent Jivaro (9-4-2) into Thursday night's loser-out game of the double elimination tournament against #2-seeded Soundwave/Sawtooth Paint (13-2-1) at the Hailey gym.

Soundwave is the only team to have beaten Johnny G's Subshack this winter, by a 58-57 score back in the third game of the season. On Tuesday night, Dave Morgan's 14 points led Soundwave/Sawtooth Paint over #7-seeded Sturges Productions (7-10) by a 65-54 score. Greg Edwards dropped in 18 points for Sturges.

The winner of Thursday's Soundwave-Jivaro Headhunters contest stayed alive to meet Johnny G's Subshack in the league championship game Sunday, March 26 at 12 noon at The Community Campus gym.
