Alpine and Lower Alpine ski runs on McCall's Brundage Mountain were the technical racing stages for 154 of the Intermountain Division's best 9-12 year-old alpine ski racers Saturday and Sunday.

The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation and Hailey Ski Team sent 25 kids to the two-day J4/J5 (ages 9-12) North and South Series Championships and several earned podiums.

In giant slalom, J4 Harlan Collins placed fourth overall of 81 two-run finishers and earned a third place in his class. So did J5 Kipling Weisel, who was sixth overall. J4s Amanda Stelling, Kyra Wiethorn and Nicole Roos placed 6-8-10 overall of 59.

Podiums in Sunday's slalom went to J4s Miles Sweek (2nd overall, 2nd J4) and Tanner Farrow (3rd overall, 3rd J4) and J5 KJ Savaria (3rd J5), plus Stelling (3rd overall, 3rd J4). Also, Roos was ninth overall in the girls' slalom.

The local boys had a particularly good day in slalom Sunday, putting six skiers in the top 15 by placing 2-3-8-9-12-13 out of 91 starters and 73 finishers for the two heats. Sweek and Tanner Farrow were second and third in that race.
