An early morning house fire in Bellevue Monday destroyed an approximately 1,200-square-foot manufactured home on Sixth Street, near the Bellevue Elementary School, Bellevue Fire Chief Greg Beaver said.
Beaver said the home was essentially a total loss as a result of the fire. "They (the owners) might be able to get a few things," he said.
Only a 13-year-old boy was at home at the time of the fire, Beaver said. The boy safely escaped from the home and ran to his neighbor's house where a 911 call was made.
The Bellevue Fire Department responded to the call at 9:19 a.m.
Beaver said the house was totally engulfed in flames and smoke was billowing from the eaves when the first Bellevue fire engine arrived on the scene. Under a mutual aid agreement, the Wood River Fire Department sent three additional fire engines and Hailey sent one engine plus an ambulance, he said.
However, despite the additional help, the firefighters were unable to stop the blaze, Beaver said. "There was nothing they could do."
The fire was declared out by 11:01 a.m., Beaver said.
The fire chief said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
