Suns and Gorillas face off tonight

Minneapolis sextet on ice

Coming off last weekend's 5-3 and 5-2 home ice sweep of the visiting Philadelphia Independence, the Sun Valley Suns men's ice hockey team is ready for bear. Better yet, for gorilla.

The Suns (9-3) carry their season-best four-game winning streak into this weekend's two-game series against the visiting Minneapolis Gorillas at Sun Valley Skating Center.

Opening faceoffs are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18 as part of a busy Presidents' Day weekend at the Sun Valley resort. Saturday's game is a benefit for Hailey Ice.

The Gorillas finished second in the USA Hockey Adult U.S. Championship April 4, 2004 at Fond du Lac, Wisc., falling 5-4 to the Seattle Indians.

Suns coach Chris Benson said about the Gorillas, "I expect a young, solid squad, smart and quick. Hopefully it will get us in the right frame of mind for our home-and-home series with Jackson Hole (Feb. 24-25 there, March 10-11 here)."
