North vs. South challenge returns to Snow Box Derby

Sun Valley City Administrator Virginia Egger, left, representing the "North," and Beth Callister, a Bellevue Planning and Zoning commissioner, representing the "South," will battle for the Challenge Cup the Snow Box Derby at Rotarun Ski Area, Sunday, Feb. 26.

The North/South Challenge Cup Race is back for a second year at the annual Snow Box Derby to be held at Rotarun Ski Area near Hailey on Sunday, Feb. 26. This year's competitors are Sun Valley City Administrator Virginia Egger representing the "North" and Beth Callister, a Bellevue Planning and Zoning commissioner, representing the "South."

Badges supporting your favorite competitor will be sold at the event, with proceeds benefiting the Rotarun Ski Area. The "Snow Box Challenge Cup" will be presented to the winner of the race and be placed in that town's city hall for the following year.

The cup currently resides in Ketchum City Hall after former Mayor Ed Simon defeated Hailey Councilman Rick Davis in last year's challenge.

"The Snow Box Derby is a wonderful valley-wide event," said challenge organizer Gary Hoffman. "The North/South Challenge is a fun way to bring everyone in the valley together for some healthy, good-natured competition."

For more information, contact Dave Keir at the Blaine County Recreation District at 788-2117. Hoffman can be reached at 725-5522.
