Soldier ready for its telemark day

Saturday's Bob Marley all-terrain

Sun Valley Telemark Race Series organizer Danny Walton can't say enough good things about the great skiing nowadays at Soldier Mountain Ski Area north of Fairfield.

"Phenomenal conditions...so sick now....so nice....and the terrain park is bitchin'...."

So it's a good thing the local telemark series is showing up at Soldier Saturday, Feb. 4 for the second annual Bob Marley All-Terrain races sponsored by Hailey Nursery and Scott USA.

"It will be a nice top-to-bottom all-terrain race," said Walton Tuesday.

Registration at Soldier is from 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday with racing at 10:30 a.m. Entry fee is $20 per person plus lift ticket.

The fun doesn't stop after the all-terrain race. There will be the Tele Powder 8 Championship presented by Cloudveil and the second annual ESS Soldier Big Air Finals. And the awards party is Saturday at 7 p.m. somewhere in Ketchum.

Other winter dates: March 5, the Dollar Mountain giant slalom; and April 8, the Hawaiian Nationals on Baldy. Visit sunvalleytele.org for more details.
