Soldier GS wraps up race series

Juniors compete on Monument Ridge


Independent J1 entry Miles Fink-Debray, 17, was the men's winner by .43 seconds in Tuesday's Soldier Mountain Junior Olympic qualifier.

A-class racers Nathan Schwing of the Hailey Ski Team, Carl Rixon Jr. of Sun Valley and Biche Rudigoz of Ketchum Alpine Racing finished 3rd, 8th and 15th respectively in the field of 48 two-run men's finishers.

Ketchum Alpine Racing J2 Alisa Durkheimer podiumed with a second-place class finish, seventh overall, and Sun Valley J1 Amanda Alexander finished fourth of 20 women.

The Soldier Mountain giant slaloms staged in sunny conditions on Monument Ridge and North Ridge ski runs constituted the fourth day of the Intermountain Division A/J1 (ages 17-18) and J2 (15-16) race event that began with last weekend's Laura Flood Memorial on Baldy.

Local racers from the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Ketchum Alpine Racing and the Hailey Ski Team did well. Here are local junior class placings from Tuesday's GS:

J1 men: 1—Miles Fink-Debray. 5—Ben Luck. 6—Derek Blash. 7—Matthew Preucil.

J1 women: 4—Amanda Alexander.

J2 men: 8—Soren Ireland. 10—Ryon Campbell. 11—Travis Stone. 14—Michael Greer. 16—Scott Isaacs. 20—Tom Johanson. 23—Tristan Brown. 34—Bo Brown.

J2 women: 2—Alisa Durkheimer. 7—Grayson Palmer. 8—Shanny Cohen.
