Murphy races to Skoch Cup overall crown

Over 100 Masters racers from all of the U.S. converged on Baldy last weekend for the annual USSA Intermountain Masters Skoch Cup series of alpine races sponsored by Formula Sports of Ketchum. Matt Murphy and Chris Katzenberger emerged as the overall Skoch Cup winners covering Friday's super giant slalom, Saturday's giant slalom and Sunday's slalom racing. Racers ages 25 to 91 competed.

The Sun Valley Ski Club organized the three-day race.

Class winners were:

Class 14: John Woodward (SG, GS, SL). Class 12: John Droege (SG); Robert Bernard (GS, SL). Class 11: Virginia Reed (SG, GS, SL), Harry Baxter (SG), Ralph Roylance (GS) and Bob Chambers (SL).

Class 10: Carl Fullman (SG, GS, SL). Class 9: Anna Droege (SG, GS, SL), Keith Thompson (SG), Rich Robertson (GS, SL). Class 8: Nancy Auseklis (SG), Glenn McConkey (GS, SL), Ed Fenwick (SG), Bob Sarchett (GS) and Royal McClure (SL).

Class 7: Rosemary Moschel (SG, GS, SL), Victor Roy (SG), Rauli Karjalainen (GS) and James Ragan (SL). Class 6: Pamela Sheeler (SG, GS, SL), Keith Rounkles (SG) and Bill Skinner (GS, SL).

Class 5: Chris Paup (SG), Amy Lanzel (GS, SL), Matt Murphy (SG), Grant Donovan (GS) and Brian Frost (SL). Class 4: Chris Katzenberger (SG, GS, SL), John Campbell (SG), James Greenwood (GS, SL). Class 3: Stephanie Kampschror (GS), Kerry Clark (SL), Mark LaSalle (GS, SL).

Class 2: Kristi Lee (GS, SL), Sam Lee (GS) and Crain Hopper (SL). Class 1: Dana Alexandrescu (GS, SL) and Brian Cohen (SL). Super Seed: Matt Murphy (GS) and Toby Chapman (SL).
