All-terrain, all the time, for telemarkers

Baldy race starts series


The 2006 Sun Valley Telemark Race Series kicked off Saturday with the Smith Sport Optics All-Terrain race on Baldy. Some 45 skiers and 12 snowboarders took part in the fun—and Ryan Casey, Jon Riley, Danny Walton and Tyler Chandler did 360s mid-course.

Elite winners were Chandler and Jen King. Conner Davis and Sarah Torres were the top Sport-class racers.

Results:

Sport Men: 1—Conner Davis 2:39.48. 2—Jon Riley 2:40.18. 3—Steve Benson 2:44.29. 4—Tim Cron 2:48.15. 5—Chad Brown 2:49.74.

Others were: Sean Flynn 2:51.48, Mike Shinn 2:55.81, Mark Elsbree 3:01.49, Ryan Manning 3:04.49, Mike Schlatter 3:14.00, Eric Dobbie 3:20.72, Doug Oplt 3:26.24, Derek Jones 3:33.27, Michael Shane 3:34.61, Tony St. George 3:40.14, Hank Warneck 4:35.71, plus DQs Matt Smey 2:18.94, Connor 3:28.56, James Sher 4:22.54 and DNF Greg Hedin.

Sport Women: 1—Sarah Torres 3:43.36. 2—Staci Page 4:12.93. 3—Randi Pallan 4:31.48. 4—Deidre O'Connell 4:36.18. 5—Casey Hanrahan 4:38.44.

Others were: Kelly Lewis 4:38.56 and Heidi Anderson 4:43.98 plus DQs Ally Delsack 3:21.54, Jessica Sowney 5:30.28 and Pam Fitz 4:31.08.

Elite Men: 1—Tyler Chandler 2:13.00. 2—Ryan Casey 2:14.40. 3—Lance Levy 2:21.92. 4—Trent Stumph 2:23.93. 5—Brent Hanson 2:26.56.

Others were: Danny Walton 2:37.03, Rob King 2:50.05 and Todd Falk 3:08.35.

Elite Women: 1—Jen King 2:51.85. 2—Katie Raffetto 2:58.50. 3—Amy Oelerich 3:12.13. 4—Lisa Hall 3:31.23. 5—Jessica Dunn 4:12.50.

Snowboard Men: 1—Jason Kuehn 1:41.43. 2—Josh Solly 1:54.42. 3—Tyles 2:07.80. 4—Guy Robbins 2:27.50.

Others were: DQs Eric Toshalis 3:58.55 and Luke Solly 1:45.81.

Snowboard Women: 1—Jill Parker 2:27.43. 2—Thia Konig 2:47.23. 3—Rosa Kim 2:49.85. 4—Michelle Hyde 7:15.92.

Others were: DQs Robin Shaw 2:28.59 and Valerie Lewis 2:33.04.
