It's a very big achievement for such a young figure skater.

Clare King, 15, an enthusiastic Wood River High School freshman, won the elusive Senior "Gold" last week in Sun Valley, the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club has announced.

She passed her U.S. Figure Skating Association Senior Gold Level "Moves in the Field" test last Wednesday.

King, a hard-working skating veteran coached since young childhood by figure skating pro Darlin Baker, joins currently active SVFSC members Lauren Farr and Kayla Karrigan in attaining the highest possible USFS testing level for "Moves in the Field."

The USFS challenges figure skaters with eight test levels in two categories—"Moves in the Field" and Freestyle.

The test levels advance as follows: Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary, Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, Junior and Senior.

Each level increases substantially in difficulty culminating in the coveted Senior "Gold."

USFS tests determine a skater's level for USFS Figure Skating Competitions. The "Moves in the Field" category tests a skater's fundamental skating form, emphasizing edge control, extension, carriage, rhythm and speed consistency.

Other SVFSC members who participated in the last test session held at Sun Valley included the following skaters:

Julianna Lamb, who passed Intermediate Freestyle and Novice "Moves in the Field;" Nicole Pratt, who passed Juvenile "Moves in the Field" and Pre-Juvenile Freestyle; Katherine Dwyer, who passed her Pre-Juvenile Moves; Devon Sherrerd, who passed Preliminary Freestyle; and Claire Siderman, who passed Pre-Preliminary "Moves in the Field" and Pre-Preliminary Freestyle.
