Cutthroat cagers drop road games

Shoshone arrives tonight in SV


The Community School boys' varsity basketball team continued to make progress with its best scoring night of the young season Tuesday.

But the Cutthroats (0-3, 0-0) fell short to the host Lighthouse Christian Academy Lions (2-0) by a 65-48 score in Twin Falls. Charles Dawson led eight Lions in the scoring column with 20 points.

After a 19-point first half the Cutthroats came alive with 29 points after intermission. Team-high scorer Christian Cairncross (5 rebounds) tallied 11 of his 13 points after the half including one 3-pointer.

Other contributors were Brendon Nelson (10 points, 5 boards, 2 steals), Spencer Harris (9 points, 6 boards, 2 assists), Jeff Gaecke (6 points, 5 boards, 2 steals), Max Harris (4 points), Kevin Wade (4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) and Alden Remington (2 points, 3 assists).

In the boys' JV game, Lighthouse escaped with a close 44-42 triumph. Max Sabel (17 points, 3 steals) led the way. Others were Ian Ingram (7 points, 4 boards, 3 steals), Lucas Vorsteveld (7 points), Casper Brun (6 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) and Eddy Albarran (5 points, 5 steals).

Richfield girls shoot well

The host Richfield Tigers (3-2, 2-0 league) netted eight 3-pointers and ran away with an 81-19 Northside Conference victory over The Community School (0-3, 0-2) Tuesday night.

Jessica Dreiling and Moe Hubsmith scored 12 points apiece for Richfield. For the Cutthroats, Caroline Fairchild had 7 points, Emily Eshman 6, Jessie Curran 4, Cody Curran 1 and Corinna Pidgeon 1.

The Cutthroats boys and girls host Shoshone tonight, Friday at The Fish Tank.
