The Cutthroats Christian Cairncross scored 13 points and Mack Whitington followed with 12, but the Community School boys' basketball team couldn't keep up the pace with Hansen Wednesday night, falling 51-39 in Ketchum in both teams' season opener.
The Huskies Ryan Leiser and Devon Jenks shared a game high 15 points but the most outstanding statistic of the game came from the free throw line, where Hansen players were nearly flawless (16 of 17).
The Cutthroats played tough through the first half, leading the Huskies 17-14 at the end of the first quarter before falling behind by two, 30-28, at the half.
Hansen took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Cutthroats 13-6 to take a 43-34 lead.
Hansen will play in Carey's holiday tournament this weekend, while the Community School hosts Glenns Ferry Saturday at 6 p.m. in Ketchum.
