Ten SV5B girls made the trip to the annual "Spook Splash" Idaho Falls Invitational swim meet Oct. 21-22. One of the highlights was the performance of Racheal McGinnis at the two-day eastern Idaho meet.
McGinnis, 14, set a new meet record in 100 free with a 56.47-second clocking. Amanda Harris of SV5B held the old record. McGinnis also established a new meet record in 500 free at 5:45.83. In addition, McGinnis qualified for the 2006 Zones next August in 100 back.
Another highlight was SV5B's girls' 14-and-under 200 free relay taking first place and breaking the meet record with a time of 1:58.40. Those swimmers were Esther Williams, Melissa Becker, Bronwen Raff and McGinnis. They broke the record by nearly five seconds.
A second SV5B girls' team comprised of Tori Emerick, Sarah Brown, Taylor Coiner and Michael Coiner placed third in the 14-under 200 free relay at the "Spook Splash."
Top individual placings were:
1sts—Hannah McNees, 16, in 50 free, 200 free, 500 free and 100 back; Racheal McGinnis, 14, in 50 free, 100 free and 500 free; Rachael Becker, 17, in 100 breast.
2nds—Racheal McGinnis 100 breast, 200 free and 100 back; Esther Williams, 13, in 100 free, 500 free and 100 back; Taylor Coiner, 13, in 50 free; Rachael Becker 100 free, 200 free, 500 free and 100 back.
3rds—Esther Williams 50 free and 100 breast; Sarah Brown, 12, in 50 fly; Michael Coiner, 13, in 100 back and 200 free; Melissa Becker, 14, in 500 free.
4ths—Tori Emerick, 12, in 50 free; Sarah Brown 100 free; Taylor Coiner 200 free; Michael Coiner 100 free.
5ths—Tori Emerick 100 free; Sarah Brown in 50 back; Taylor Coiner 100 free and 100 breast; Bronwen Raff 500 free.
6ths—Tori Emerick 50 back and 50 fly; Sarah Brown 50 free, 200 free and 100 IM; Melissa Becker 200 free; Bronwen Raff 50 free.
