During this year's city elections on Nov. 8, Carey residents will be voting on four separate municipal races.
In each of the four races—for the position of mayor and three city council seats—only one candidate has filed to run.
Incumbent Carey Mayor Rick Baird is up for re-election and is running unopposed. The election for mayor is for a four-year term.
Incumbent City Council member Bob Simpson is also up for re-election and is running unopposed for another four-year term.
Incumbent City Council member Vonnie Olsen—nominated to a vacated seat in June of this year—is up for election to finish out the final two years of a four-year term. Olsen is also running unopposed.
The only fresh face on this year's Carey ballot is that of Jeff Koudelka, who is running for the seat being vacated by City Council member Randy Patterson.
Because the deadline for filing as a candidate in municipal elections was Friday, Sept. 30, potential candidates can now only file as a write-in candidate. The deadline for write-in candidates to file for municipal elections is Tuesday, Oct. 25.
