A Sun Valley Co. employee has been charged with rape after allegedly giving a knockout drug to a female co-worker.

Jeffery J. Marsalis, 32, was arrested Monday afternoon and booked into Blaine County Jail, stated a news release from the Sun Valley Police Department. He was reported to be still incarcerated there Tuesday in lieu of payment of a $150,000 bond.

The release stated that a 21-year-old woman reported she had awakened in Marsalis' Atelier condominium Sunday morning after the two had been out together at Whiskey Jacques' in Ketchum on Saturday night.

"She had experienced sudden loss of memory, impairment inconsistent with the amount of alcohol consumed, blacking out for an extended period of time, waking up feeling something had happened and short flashes of memory about the incident," the release states. "All of those experiences are consistent with having ingested a date-rape-type drug."

The release states that the victim was taken to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center for an examination.

Sun Valley Police Department Lt. Mike Crawford said a search of Marsalis' condominium on Monday turned up items that have been sent to a state lab for analysis.

The press release states that authorities in Philadelphia informed Sun Valley police that Marsalis is under investigation there in connection with two similar date rape allegations.
