Hobbs, Bushell capture SV golf titles

Club champions for 2005

Jim Hobbs was a four-stroke winner over Carmen Bradley in the top-flight men's group, and Nancy Bushell captured the women's gross stroke championship of the Sun Valley Golf club tournament Sunday.

Hobbs (77-78 for 155-151) won the 12-player Men's Championship Flight over Bradley (79-80 for 159-155) in a battle of two-handicappers. The men's net winner in the top flight was six-handicapper Pat Bauman (79-77 for 156-144).

A total 46 golfers competed in the two-day tourney, with the club winners qualifying for the Idaho Golf Association Tournament of Champions Oct. 1-2 at Sun Valley Golf Club.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Jim Hobbs and Kim Kopecky. Long drive winners were John Flunt and Nancy Bushell. Top results by flight follow:

Men's Championship Flight—Gross: 1—Jim Hobbs 77-78 for 155-151. 2—Carmen Bradley 79-80 for 159-155. Net: 1—Pat Bauman 79-77 for 156-144 (12 golfers).

Men's First Flight—Gross: 1—Mark Anderson 83-81 for 164-138. 2—Tim Appleton 90-80 for 170-146. Net: 1—Charlie Evans 84-86 for 170-142. 2—Doug McTavish 95-92 for 187-149 (17 golfers).

Men's Senior Flight—Gross: 1—John Manocheo 81-84 for 165-157. 2—Wolf Von Lindenau 85-82 for 167-149. Net: 1—Nick Cox 89-84 for 173-149 (12 golfers).

Ladies Flight—Gross: 1—Nancy Bushell 85-83 for 168-156. Net: 1—Alice Stanley 100-91 for 191-153.

Valley Club's Irwin Cup

The Valley Club staged its annual Irwin Cup couples foursome event Sunday on the mid-valley golf course. Results were divided into top gross golfers and top net teams:

First gross—Kevin Cincotta and Happy Hawn, Larry Bauman and Kitty Willard 153.

Second gross—Dick Shelton and Barbara Shelton, Bill and Kaye Burnham 165.

First net—Jim and Alison Luckman, Ted and Ann Baker 130.5.

Second net—Bill and Janet Hill, Gerald and Mary Lively 133.

Third net—Bob and Betsy Reniers, Jimmy and Pat Davies 134.5.
