Now that Labor Day weekend is behind us, we're entering our most serious time of the season for the serious angler. Fishing remains very good and with more and more hatches seen, it should be excellent for the week to come.
· SILVER CREEK—Fishing nicely. Although it's somewhat inconsistent, Trico just doesn't want to go away. Since you never know what you are going to get in the morning, you better carry a few Dave's Trico and Hi-Viz Trico #22. You should also carry a Mason Quill Spinner #22 for Beatis that has been extending into the afternoon. Getting stronger, Callibeatis in the float section is ideal. A Speckled Dun and a Tan Gulper Special #18-20 work nicely on the feeders, Callibeatis spinners are seen in the evening and a Partridge Spinner #18 does the trick.
· BIG WOOD RIVER—Fishing quite nicely thank you. With the lower water levels, Trico is making its presents known and a Para Adams #18-20 take fish that are working on the tiny White Winged Blacks. Para Adams #16-18 will also work throughout the day. Most importantly, a few Red Quills have now been seen and if the trend continues, the next two weeks could be dynamite. A Mason Red Quill Dun #10-12 and our new Crippled Red Quill #10-12 are already moving fish, regardless of the hatch density.
· COPPER BASIN—Fishing is spotty and scattered. Depending upon where you cast a line, fishing is either all or nothing. Even the ALL is somewhat sparse. Some decent fishing on the North Fork.
· BIG LOST—Still a bit high for this time of year, the river is dropping slowly, making for improved fishing conditions. Sorry, but the best fish will still be underneath using Prince Nymphs #12, Wine and Zebra Colored Copper Johns #12-14 and Bead Head Pheasant Tails #12-16. A Para Adams fished randomly, will produce fish on the surface.
· WARM SPRINGS/TRAIL CREEK—Should fish pretty well throughout the week for holdover planted fish. Standard Dryflies and a Prince Nymph should do the job.
· PENNY LAKE/LAKE CREEK—Should also have plenty of fish left from Labor Day weekend. Bait, lures and flies should all be successful.
