Coming off a 42-0 victory over Filer last week that ended a 14-game losing streak with a statement, Wood River High's head football coach Mike Glenn doesn't see any signs of a letdown against Hillcrest in Hailey Friday night.
Opening kickoff is 7 p.m. at Homer Field.
"There's no overconfidence from what we've seen," Glenn said Wednesday night while preparing for Hillcrest. "Of course this is the first week of school and the kids are really forced to think about other things besides football.
"That takes a little more requirement from us to make sure they're focused."
Hillcrest has yet to play this season, which means Glenn and Co. have only last year's game film to study. Based on past tendencies, Glenn expects the Knights to field a physical team committed to the run.
"They do throw the ball down field, but they pride themselves on being physical—they really emphasize the physical nature of the game," he said.
Glenn said he wants his offense to be more balanced than they were last Friday, when senior quarterback Tyler Jackson threw only seven passes.
"We think we can throw the ball around a little more ... on Friday night we just didn't need to," Glenn said.
Against Filer, Jackson completed four of seven passes for 53 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
The Knights beat Wood River 42-17 last year in Idaho Falls before finishing with a 3-6 record.
