Casino 16, Group Six 1

Being #1 has its perks, like a noon game on Saturday. It was just the ticket for the Clubbers who kick-started their championship run by 86ing Group Six. Casino (22 hits): Joe Reali 3 hits (triple/double), 3 runs. Matt Stacey 3 hits (double), 3 runs. Sarah Torres 3 hits (double), 2 runs. Jill Morse 2 hits. Group Six (8 hits): Keith Railly 2 hits. Jim Carlson 1 hit, 1 run. Leisl Opp & Karen Morrison 1 hit apiece.

View Point 18, Color Haus 8

In the second round, View Point played stifling D, allowing Color Haus only two consecutive hits the entire game. Somewhere Bob Sarchett was smiling. View Point (26 hits): Rod Watson 4-for-4 (HR/double), 3 runs. Robin Sarchett 4 hits, 3 runs. Sharon Stewart 3 hits, 3 runs. Sue Mulcahy 3 hits, 2 runs. Color Haus (8 hits): Bryan Burrell 3 hits (HR/2 doubles), 3 runs. Josh Jacobson 2 hits (HR). Sarah Benson 1 hit. Kathy Seal & Brenda Blackwell 1 run each.

Casino 8, Firefighters 3

Casino got out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, allowing the Firefighters just one run. Tied 2-2 heading into the home fourth, the Clubbers tacked on three runs by Anthony Anderson, Jerod Ball and Matt Stacey to take what proved to be an insurmountable lead. Casino (14 hits): Anderson 3 hits (HR/double), 3 runs. Stacey 2 hits, 2 runs. Jill Morse, Brenda Griffin & Kathy Baker 1 hit each. Firefighters (12 hits): Ken Edwards 2 hits (triple/double), 2 runs. Karly Maratea 2 hits. Pam Rudolph 2 hits. Matt Christian 1 hit, 1 run.

Casino 11, View Point 7

While the cheer "Let's show them who the real champions are" might light a fire under your team, it is also likely to incite a slow burn in your opponent, which was the case here. Casino came out hotter than a wet hornet, scoring four runs in the first to offset one by the Point. Both teams plated two in the second and it went tit-for-tat from there. Every time visiting View Point scored, Casino answered. It seems real champions do that. Casino (16 hits): Jerod Ball 3 hits (2 doubles), 1 run. Joe Reali 3 hits, 1 run. Jill Morse 1 hit, 1 run. Gretchen Wagner 1 hit, 1 run. View Point (12 hits): Matt Conover 3 hits (double), 2 runs. Jeff Sarchett 3 hits (double), 2 runs. Sue Mulcahy 2 hits. Wendy Hossman 2 runs.

CHAMPIONSHIP: Casino 9, View Point 4

Just like some of the patrons of the Casino, the bags were loaded late in the game. Trailing 4-1 in the fifth, the Casino busted loose, plating eight runs to lock up its first-ever championship. Casino (19 hits): Anthony Anderson 4-for-4 (2 doubles), 1 run. Mike Torres 3 hits (double), 1 run. Craig Morse 3 hits (double), 1 run. Lisa Valdamo 3 hits (2 doubles). Sarah Torres double, 1 run. View Point (11 hits): Sue Mulcahy 3 hits, 2 runs. Robin Sarchett 2 hits (HR), 2 runs. Jeff Sarchett 2 hits. Georgia Hutchinson 2 hits.

LOSER BRACKET GAMES

Lefty's lit up the scoreboard, scoring in every inning, including a big 9-run second highlighted by Wendy Speth's 3-run double. Lefty's (25 hits): Buff Rixon 4 hits (double), 3 runs. Kyle Rushton 3 hits (HR/2 triples), 2 runs. Nicole Buckwalter 3 hits (double), 3 runs. Wendy Speth 2 doubles, 2 runs. Kennedy (6 hits): Tom Sparks 2 hits. Jen S. 2 hits.

Warren Christiansen 3 hits (2 doubles), 3 runs. Group Six (11 hits): Chad Pringle 3 hits (HR), 1 run. Mike Davis HR, 3 runs. Julie Swenke 1 hit, 2 runs. Leisl Opp 1 hit, 1 run.

Lefty's 19, SV Associates 12

SV Associates carried the early momentum and the lead, but after bolting to a 12-2 advantage in the third fizzled like wet fireworks with only two hits in the remaining four frames. Lefty's (26 hits): Kyle Rushton 4 hits (HR/double), 4 runs. Dave Hausmann 4 hits (2 doubles), 2 runs. Michele Hampton 3 hits (triple), 3 runs. Jen Embree, Julie Bell, Levie Smith 2 hits each. SV (20 hits): Tyler Wheeler 3 doubles, 3 runs. Lee Ritzau 3 hits, 2 runs. Jamie Menges 2 hits, 1 run. Sarah Parker 2 hits (double), 1 run.

Firefighters 14, Lefty's 8

You could say Lefty's was flatter than last night's beer for the 9 a.m. game on Sunday morning, but the Firefighters were ready to go, scoring in every inning but one. Firefighters (20 hits): Linda McMahon 3 hits, 2 runs. Ed Binnie 3 hits, 2 runs. Keith Potter 3 hits (triple), 2 runs. Karly Maratea 2 hits, 2 runs. Lefty's (8 hits): Kyle Rushton 3 hits, 1 run. Dave Hausmann triple/double, 1 run. Wendy Speth 2 hits, 1 run. Michele Hampton 2 hits, 1 run.

Color Haus 23, Zenergy 5

Gina Heidemann, Alley Brewer, Heather Lingbloom 1 hit each.

Color Haus 24, Firefighters 10

A 10-run, 9-hit first frame put the Haus in front for good. The 6-run, 7-hit fourth was just for good measure. Color Haus (28 hits): Bryan Burrell 3 hits (HR/triple/double), 4 runs. Josh Jacobson 3 hits (HR/double), 3 hits. M.J. Musselman 3 hits (double), 2 runs. Sarah Benson 3 hits, 2 runs. Zenergy (14 hits): Ken Edwards 4 hits, 2 runs. Keith Potter 2 hits, 2 runs. Linda McMahon 2 hits (double), 1 run. Gabby Diedrick 1 hit, 2 runs.

View Point 20, Color Haus 17

The closest game of the tournament seemed to have the most unlikely ending. With a trip to the championship on the line, Color Haus held an 8-2 lead after two, a 12-1 lead after three, and maintained a 14-5 edge after five. View Point chipped away, scoring 4 runs in the sixth and sent 11 over home plate in the top of the seventh for an improbable, but not impossible, comeback. After that, were the Point's players really wondering why Casino had such a big cheering section for the championship game? View Point (26 hits): Rod Watson 5-for5 (2 HR/3 doubles), 3 runs. Nelson Drewien 4 hits (HR/double), 2 runs. Sue Mulcahy 4 hits, 3 runs. Georgia Hutchinson 3 hits, 2 runs. Color Haus (25 hits): Josh Jacobson 4 hits (2 HR/double), 3 runs. Jeff Burrell 4 hits (2 doubles), 2 runs. M.J. Musselman 3 hits (double), 2 runs. Kathy Seal 3 hits (double), 1 run.
