Ketchum's Richard Feldman, 36, pounded eight miles of pavement the fastest of 69 bicyclists in the Grand Targhee Hill Climb time trial July 17. It was his second straight victory in the Grand Targhee road ascent.
Riding for Durance Cycleworks-Lehman Brothers, Feldman finished the interval start individual time trial in 28 minutes and three seconds—two seconds better than the runner-up racer along Ski Hill Rd. leading up to Grand Targhee.
Feldman called the ascent "much milder than Galena." Other local finishers were Gene Timmons 45th in 37:12, Mike Wrobel 52nd in 38:11, John Swyers 53rd in 38:25 and Mimi Amrit 64th in 44:33.
The three-time UCI World Masters time trial champion is getting ready for this year's event Aug. 21-28 at St. Johann, Austria. Feldman, a 14-time Idaho State time trial king, won the U.S. national time trial title last year in Men's 35-39.
